Kate Disley - BA (Hons), PTS Dip, MSMA
Kate heads up the team with a wealth of knowledge and passion. She has extensive soft tissue experience & has worked with sports teams and individual athletes at professional and amateur levels. After graduating in 2004 from Durham University, Kate continued her studies and qualified as a Sport and Remedial Massage Therapist in 2006. She is an approved member of the Sports Massage Association (SMA), is qualified in Kinesio taping Level K1 & K2 and is an APPI Trained Pilates Instructor. Kate’s patient list is varied and she works with non-sports people as well as athletes. Some of her more regular customers include elite level gymnasts, triathletes and elite and club level runners.
 
Kate is a passionate follower and player of rugby union and has previous representative honours for County, Regional, and England Youth squads. More recently she has been pursued by her patients to undertake her first (and maybe last) sprint triathlon. 
 
Martin Williams BSc (Hons) MFHT
Martin graduated from Northumbria University in 1998 and qualified in Sport Massage Therapy in 2006. He brings a great deal of experience and knowledge with him to Physio Plus and has treated athletes at professional and amateur levels. Martin has worked in many environments in the UK and France including gyms, fitness studios as well as in a clinical setting. He has supported many sporting events including numerous Great North Runs and the Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon (one of the toughest one day challenges in the UK).
Away from the clinic Martin is a keen swimmer and gym bunny who also likes to dabble in Yoga and Pilates. He’s a passionate follower of athletics and used to represent the region and North Yorkshire County for the discus. Rumour has it he still holds his school discus record 23 years later! 
 
Dawn H. Ridgway MSc, BSc (Hons) MSST
Dawn brings over 15 years experience to the clinic. She graduated in 1998 from Sunderland University with a BSc in Sports Science and went on to undertake her Masters in Sports Therapy in 2007. Along the way Dawn has gained invaluable knowledge within both the sports and entertainment fields, working backstage with the likes of Girls Aloud, Diversity and the WWF Wrestling teams.
 
As well as her clinical work, Dawn lectures at Sunderland University delivering modules on anatomy and sports injuries and provides support for final year research projects. Amongst all of this she still manages to find time to get out on her 'new' bike when the weather allows and is planning to undertake the Ashington Sprint Triathlon next year.
 
Jonny Connop BSc (Hons) MSST
Jonny Connop has joined our growing team of Sports Massage Therapists at the clinic.
He has a wealth of experience and since qualifying in Sports Massage in 2008 he has worked with various patient groups and athletes, including runners, cyclists and currently works at the MS Research and Relief Fund in Morpeth.
 
Jonny is a keen cyclist and has undertaken a number of challenges raising money for the Percy Hedley foundation. Last year he completed a 3000 mile cycle across America from Los Angeles to New York in 30 days.


Jack Gilmore (BSc) Hons

    Jack is the newest member of the team and works at the clinic on Saturday. He has experience working with athletes in various sports, including competitive combat athletes. He is a qualified Crossfit coach and in     his spare time can be found in the gym or eating chicken!

    Jack offers sports massage to all at the clinic and has a keen interest in various sporting activities including athletics, rugby, Crossfit and powerlifting.
